Workshop Descriptions

Please note, this is preliminary information--some details may be subject to change as details are finalized with the instructor.

F-word: Footwork, Floor Patterns & Foundation Saturday 10:00 - 12:00
Build on the style and sophistication in your dancing repertoire by better use of the F-Words in your dancing! In this workshop, we'll concentrate on traveling steps, movements and combinations with weight and direction changes. We will also explore how different styles of belly dance use footwork and floor patterns differently.

Combinography Saturday 1:00 - 4:00
In this workshop, Bahaia will share her unique approach to bridging the gap between improvisation and choreography. We’ll study elements of dance paired with steps and combinations. You’ll learn new moves but also deeper purpose and core concepts around pacing your performance, spatial awareness, direction change, body line, level change, floor patterns, tempo change, repetition, variation and sequenced movement. Combin-ography is your recipe for success! You’ll have the ingredients and spices you need to create your own delicious dance dish! NOTE: This workshop is based upon the concepts in Bahaia's #1 selling DVD of the same title; HOWEVER the workshop will offer new material and additional information not in the video.

Master Class: Balady & Beyond Sunday 11:00 - 2:00
This workshop focuses on the earthy elegance and sensual techniques, styling, and feeling of balady dance to help develop and refine your own personal style. Plus, deepen your understanding and interpretation of the balady taqsim (balady progression) that forms the heart of Egyptian dance and music.
