Belly Dance & More at Aalim School of DanceSummer session classes begin the week of June 4. Spring session is currently in progress. We are in the process of updating the site and will post full summer schedules on or before May 14. Students with previous experience may join "regular" classes at any time. New beginners should begin within the first three weeks of a given session. Summer Belly Dance Classes (click class title for description.) Note: When classes are scheduled back-to-back with the same instructor, scheduled times reflect a 10-min buffer to ensure smooth change-over between classes/studios. Classes begin promptly at the scheduled times.
Level 1 Belly Dance Foundations

Level 2 & Mixed Level Belly Dance (11 weeks) Thursdays, 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. 6/7-8/30 (no 6/21, 7/5) Studio Mpls-SR **Day!
Level 2 (and up!) Belly Dance Technique Bootcamp! (11-weeks) Get ready for a great skills and drills class to build on your foundational technique and work a wide range of variations, combinations, conditioning and skills to support all different styles of belly dance and Middle Eastern dance. You'll work on learning movements and variations, plus different ways to drive movement variations, getting movements into muscle memory, and refining movement for different styles. This class is appropriate for all level 2 students, but variations and additional attention to detail will be given for higher level students. WOW Factor: Belly Dance Specialties (Geared to Level 3 and up - 11 weeks) Learn about specialty techniques, styles, and dance skills ranging from Ballet Skills for belly dance, to Persian dance, to Bollywood, Tribal fusion, folkloric forms, drum solos, and other topics to enhance your dancing and understanding of the dance. Each topic will be covered for 2-4 weeks to give you sufficient time to learn and make progress. Topic listings coming soon. Specialty SessionsTAKE YOUR DANCING TO THE NEXT LEVEL! Create Amazing Performances & Find Your OWN Style! July 14-August 25, 2012 (5 Saturday group classes + 2 private mini-lessons) Are you working toward a performance goal, wanting to expand your horizons and range as a performer, looking for new inspirations, or interested in exploring your own voice and style to be a stronger performer? This is the class for you! Session includes 5 small group classes and 2 private coaching sessions. There will be some topical and technique content presented, but the focus will be on dancing: developing YOUR pieces and getting feedback toward your goals. It's like having a series of semi-private lessons! Class size is strictly limited to ensure lots of individual attention. Class is multi-level and multi-style for intermediate through professional dancers. Each perforer works at her own level, and ALL styles are welcome and encouraged. Last year's class included a vibrant mix of Orientale, tribal fusion, and balady dancers, and the participants found the conten and mix of perspectives both helpful and inspirational! The small group classes will be held on Saturdays 7/14, 7/21, 8/11, 8/18 and 8/25; the first private coaching mini-lesson will be scheduled between 7/22 and 8/10, the second between 8/25 and 9/8 For information, contact Mirah Ammal at mirah@albahira.org

Registration Policies and FeesRegistration for these classes is through the Aalim School of Middle Eastern Dance.
For a Summer session registration form, click here Please read the registration form and all policy information, found on the registration form. For regular classes, previous belly dance students may register for a full session, get a 5-class gypsy card, a 10-class gypsy card, or purchase single classes on a drop-in basis. (A gypsy card is a punch card that lets you attend any regular class at the Aalim School.) First time beginners are asked to register for a full session (intro session, 8-week regular session, or 10-punch card) as material is cumulative. Late registrations for first time beginners may be taken up to the third week of class at the school administrator's discretion.
All other classes and workshops, registration/pricing options are as listed.
No refunds after the first week of class. No exceptions.
Regular belly dance classes (1.5 hours, levels 1 through advanced): $ 88 for a full 8-week session, **$ 110 for full 11-weeks of summer! $110 for 10-class gypsy card $ 60 for 5-class gypsy card $ 13 single class drop-in rate

Driving DirectionsTo Aalim School West St. Paul/Eagan Location (Studio Code: WSP) Rhythm & Shoes at Southview Square 1907 S. Robert St., West St. Paul From eastbound 494 take the South Robert Street exit. At the top of the exit ramp, turn left. Continue approximately 1/2 a mile north on Robert. Southview Square will be on your left--the dance studio is located between Hancock Fabric and O'Reilly Auto Supply. From westbound 494 take the Highway 110 exit and the South Robert Street exit. Turn left (north) onto S. Robert Street.
To Aalim School South Minneapolis Location (Studio Code: Mpls) Center for Performing Arts, 3754 Pleasant Ave S., Minneapolis. From northbound 35-W take the 35th-36th Street exit. Go past 36th street and take a left onto 35th Street (one way). Cross the overpass, go two blocks, and take a left onto Nicollet. From Nicollet, take a right onto 38th Street. Go four blocks to Pleasant. The Center for Performing arts is on the northwest corner of the intersection. Parking is on street.
From southbound 35-W take the 35th-36th Street exit. Take a right onto 35th Street (one way). Go two blocks, and take a left onto Nicollet. From Nicollet, take a right onto 38th Street. Go four blocks to Pleasant. The Center for Performing arts is on the northwest corner of the intersection. Parking is on street.
From I-94, either direction follow signs for 35-W southbound. Stay right, and follow the southbound 35W directions.
